The key to a well rounded and successful college experience is to be actively involved with your school and to challenge yourself both physically and mentally. We here at 49er Rugby can do both. We have a track record of taking athletes and making them into good rugby players and taking good rugby players and making them into great teams. Join the winning team!

We have a long legacy of being one the top collegiate rugby teams in the US. The club was founded in 1974 by Dr.Dale"doc"Toohey (LBSU Hall of fame). We have won 25 Tournaments, 18 Southern California Championships and have been to the final four three times. 14 of our players have been recognized as Collegiate All Americans (two of which are on our coaching staff) and we have had a player be selected for the Woodley Award, given to the Collegiate player of the year. ( All American Team Captain -Chris Rohrbach). We have toured overseas 20 times (about every two years) to 5 continents and 19 countries as a club. Most recently we returned from a successful tour of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary in 2017. We are looking at touring England and Scotland in 2019.
To improve our program we have put together a quality team of people to support the LBSU Rugby player become the best player that he can be. Some of the highlights of our program is having a year round dedicated rugby pitch, lockers, weight room access, top coaches (see their bio's), International guest coaches, an active alumni group (49er Rugby foundation a 501c non-profit), trainers, film, parents group and strong record of graduating our athletes.
