Long Beach State beats USC in the 100th minute of extra time to win its 5th consecutive title

After finishing the regular season undefeated for the second year in a row, Long Beach State faced a determined USD that fought hard and was very physical in the first round match. Long Beach prevailed but was definitely feeling the effects into Sundays Championship game against USC. The Championship was all that a Championship match should be. Both team traded the lead and USC pushed the pace until the end. With no time left in regulation, and down by 5, Long Beach kept ball in hand and Max Rodriguez scored in the corner to push the game into extra time. With 5min left in the second OT USC went up from a 30meter penalty kick. Long Beach kept ball in hand and slowly moved down the field. With 48 seconds left in the game, #10 Steven Bodley threw a dummy and cut back up the middle from the 22 and scored to the left of the posts. That try secured a 38-36 Championship victory for the 49ers.
